Vanity Fair, April 2023
Swearingen is the subject of an article in the April, 2023 issue of Vanity Fair magazine (see right column). The article reads: "In most people's minds, the word private investigator and woman do not go hand in hand," says True Lies Investigations founder Sammie Swearingen. "As a 100% woman-owned firm, we're able to bring a different approach to the table, and that has proven invaluable to our clients."
With its all-woman team from diverse skills and backgrounds, True Lies investigations offers an expansive suite of international and national services - including investigations into relationships, backgrounds, child custody, missing persons, stalking, insurance fraud, and more. Using multiple tools and databases that are not available to the general public, the True Lies team doesn't shy away from tough cases, and they often partner with nonprofit organizations to provide tools and resources for victims of domestic violence.
"I love this work," she says, "I started this career with the goal of entering into the field of forensics, but I fell in love with investigations because we are able to solve problems that wouldn't be solved otherwise. We've tackled murder, assault, and DUI cases, and our work provides answers and evidence and helps people rebuild their lives in safe and healthy ways. That's a powerful thing to be able to do."
Taylor provides administrative services and social media investigation (SMI) support for the True Lies team. Her interest and knowledge of social media extends across all social media from the widely known platforms such as Facebook and Instagram to the lesser known like Xanga and We Heart It. She stays up to date on upcoming platforms and social media trends.
Taylor’s strong analytical skills help her connect seemingly unrelated pieces of information gathered from a wide range of social media sites. Her knowledge of the easy access to people’s personal information online drives Taylor to safeguard clients’ privacy and help them do the same. Her thorough online research results in extremely accurate information, and her persistence in seeking information ensures she always gets the job done.
Taylor is a great asset and currently studies criminal justice. When she completes her bachelor’s degree, she plans to study law.
